Reviewing your credit with us does not cause a hard inquiry or lower your score. Scores onlydrop from things you do — missed payments, new hard inquiries, high card balances atreporting time, an account going to collections, or opening too many new accounts at once. Wedon't control your score; we work on inaccurate negative items dragging it down.

Will paying off an old collection or charge-off delete it from my report?

Not automatically. Paying a collection account satisfies the debt, but the negative paymenthistory can still legally report for up to 7 years. What we focus on is whether the item itself canbe disputed and removed because it's inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable — not just paid.

For active/new identity theft cases, we recommend contacting your creditors directly and filingan FTC identity theft report first, since those cases involve legal steps outside standard creditrepair. Once that process is underway, we can help address remaining reporting issues.

You can, but online disputes through the bureau portals are limited — often a one-time "this isn'tmine" claim, and many creditors are set up to auto-verify those without real investigation. Ourprocess is more thorough and persistent, similar to how you could cook dinner yourself, butmight hire it out when you don't have the time, tools, or experience to do it well.
